About
About Prairie Fire Hair
My journey with hair loss started more than 15 years ago when I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s. Like many women, I just wanted to feel like myself again, but early experiences left me feeling unseen and unsupported.
Over time, my hair loss progressed, and I went through a lot of frustration and trial and error before things began to change. When I finally found a community of women who understood, I started learning everything I could about wigs and customizations. That journey led me to train in ventilation, repair, and color.
I created Prairie Fire Hair to offer what I needed most back then: quality wigs, thoughtful support, and an experience rooted in compassion. Today, I personally oversee every piece we offer, and together with a small team, we provide human hair wigs through the Second Blooms and Wildflower collections—each one designed to be comfortable, natural-looking, and accessible. We also offer free consultations and honest guidance, always.

In the beginning, I didn’t have any knowledge or support. I remember going to a local wig shop, hoping to feel like myself again. Instead, I walked out with something that looked nothing like me. There was no compassion, no guidance—they just wanted to sell me a wig. I wore it a few times but couldn’t get used to it, so I gave up on wigs for years.
My hair loss came and went, but it became progressively worse. Surgeries, weight loss, and menopause all played a part. With every new phase, I felt a little more disconnected from the person I wanted to be.
One moment that still stays with me was the time I booked an appointment for hair extensions. I’d had a consultation, paid the deposit, and waited weeks. I was so hopeful! But when I arrived for the appointment, the stylist looked at my hair, whispered to another stylist, then told me it was too thin. I left in tears—not just because I was disappointed, but because I could tell I had made her uncomfortable. I felt ashamed for even trying.
That’s why when I finally found an online community of women going through the same thing, something clicked. For the first time, I didn’t feel so alone. I started testing what I learned, finding my own preferences, and eventually gaining mentors in the industry to give me advice and training in repair, ventilation and color theory.
Today, Prairie Fire Hair is the result of that journey, born from both hardship and hope.
What I offer now is what I wish I’d had back then. The Second Blooms Collection includes refurbished wigs brought back to life with care. The Wildflower Collection features new human hair wigs designed with natural density, realism, and comfort in mind—all at an affordable price.
And for anyone who feels unsure or overwhelmed, I’m here.
I offer complimentary consultations and share everything I’ve learned—not because it’s part of a pitch, but because I know how hard it is to take that first step. You deserve to feel confident again.
Every wig we offer is chosen or created with the kind of intention that only comes from lived experience. I personally oversee every detail, and I’m supported by a small team that believes in the mission behind Prairie Fire Hair: helping women find their way back to themselves.
